MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – A tactical exercise for Belarusian and Russian air force units will take place on 23-25 August, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry website.
The air force exercise will be part of preparations for the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017. Aircraft and helicopters will be redeployed from Russia to Belarusian airfields for practicing joint actions during the exercise.
The exercise will focus on using the Belarusian-Russian united regional air defense system to ensure the security of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, prepare air force units for combat missions, and carry out training missions in army exercise areas in Belarus. Landing on a motorway will be practiced as well.
The exercise will help improve the combat skills of the personnel in the course of preparing and managing air force units, practicing and improving the tactics and ways of employing air force units.
